Message of Solidarity for Fiji

Workers in Fiji are still subject to intimidation and threats for standing up for their rights. We've been working with affiliates and the global labour movement to apply pressure on the military regime to restore workers' and human rights.

On Friday September 2, workers in Australia and New Zealand held rallies to protest the suppression of workers' rights. The rallies were also held to show solidarity to unionists facing charges of allegedly breaching anti-union laws by holding a meeting with workers to discuss upcoming enterprise bargaining negotiations.

Unfortunately, the regime continues to pursue its anti-union agenda.  Fiji’s workers need your help.

There are two things you can do right now to show your support for human and workers’ rights in Fiji:

1. Leave a message of solidarity for workers and trade unionists in the comments section below. By leaving your messages of solidarity, workers in Fiji can see they have support from around the world. This kind of support is essential in giving them the courage to keep fighting for their rights.

2. Send an email to the military regime calling for the restoration of human and workers’ rights. The military regime is feeling the international pressure over their continued crackdown on human and workers’ rights and your email can help keep the pressure on.

There is one other thing that you can do; share this campaign with your friends and family.  More people are needed to help keep the pressure on the Bainimarama military government to restore workers’ and human rights.
