A retired firefighter friend of mine, Graeme “Woggy” Warton, passed away last night.

Graeme was a long time Union member, and served as a firefighter at many fire stations across NSW.

He suffered a long fight with cancer.

He was a computer wiz for his vintage, and built web tools around shift rosters starting back in the 80’s, with some unique ways to have them produced on the web. He also used to make graphic pic’s of Union logo’s, and handed all the pics, tools and rosters to us to use.

He was a solid Comrade as a firefighter, and as a retired member. He even made it to the FBEU centenary, unwell, and unable to speak, drinking beer through a tube in his throat. An example of tenacity.

I was in constant contact with him via email over the last year or so, and he showed courage till the end.

He was a champion, and a Comrade to the Union.

My thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends. Rest in peace Brother.
