NSW firefighters to hold meeting at 10am today to vote on total strike action

NSW firefighters will today (Thursday, 21 June) hold a meeting at 10am to vote on a motion to commence immediate total strike action for every member in the Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast, and Wollongong areas.

The proposed strike will be in response to the draconian workers compensation cuts proposed by the O’Farrell Government. NSW firefighters will demand the same exemptions granted to police, coal miners, RFS and other emergency volunteers.

If the motion is passed strike action will commence from 1300 today.

FBEU State Secretary Jim Casey will be contactable for comment from 0600, Thursday 21 June.
