STAFF shortages that caused the Riverwood Fire Station to close on November 5 will be repeated unless the NSW Government lifts restrictions on Fire and Rescue NSW.

Fire Brigade Union secretary Jim Casey told The Express budget cuts were putting staff levels under pressure local stations and despite FRNSW’s best efforts to cover gaps, communities were being placed at risk.

“There is no way to dress this up. Closing fire stations compromises community safety,” Mr Casey said.
