Insurers are already taking advantage of changes to Victoria’s fire services levy, with nearly 200 reports of insurance companies grossly increasing premiums following the scrapping of the levy.
From July 1 every property owner in Victoria will pay a minimum $100 to help fund the state’s fire services. Previously fire services were funded by a tax on home and property insurance. Now they will be paid on council rates.
Anyone still think that the NSW model will see premiums drop?
The proposed changes to the fire service funding in NSW are BAD.
